With the score range procedure, the standardized scores are calculated by dividing the difference between a given raw score and the minimum score for the criterion by the score range for the benefit criterion, and the standardized score is obtained by dividing the difference between the maximum score and a given raw score by the score range. Values of standardized scores range from 0 to 1. The higher the value of the score, the more attractive the criterion value. The major advantage of this procedure is that the scale of measurement varies precisely between 0 and 1 for each criterion. the worst standardized score is always equal to 0, and the best score equals 1.0.
